ASSEMBLY IS TIME CONSUMING and there are a lot of parts. I'm really happy with the quality of this island and feel like I got a great deal. If assembled properly (and without making mistakes) I bet this is just as good as a much more expensive island from Bed Bath and Beyond or other home goods retailer. ***HOWEVER, I am a very mechanically inclined person and the assembly took me about 2 and a half hours. Pay very close attention to the instructions, specifically the orientation of all the components when installing them. Aside from the top counter piece, the slats are made from brittle MDF, which is unforgiving. Meaning if you install something incorrect and have to remove the screws and reinstall it, you will likely strip any threads created by the self tapping hardware. The screws, cam nuts and other hardware pieces are very soft metal and poor quality. Use hand tools only for assembly, unless you have the hands of a neurosurgeon, you will strip everything. I wouldn't even use an electric screwdriver, much less a drill. I ended up using a JIS #2 screwdriver instead of a Phillips because none of my Phillips drivers fit the heads of the screws. There is extra hardware so if you ruin a few, don't worry too much. I did have to do a bit of "custom fabrication" when installing one of the door stops because I put it in backwards and there was no way it would install a 2nd time without destroying it.
